Section VII
Debate / Poll Process:
-=AGX=- was founded and is driven by democratic fundamentals. At the root of these fundamentals, we widely promote our debate/voting process to make sure all members of -=AGX=- are not only heard but responsible for future direction. We use this process to resolve disputes, whining, basic differences and a positive way to remain proactive as a member. Not using this process leads to apathy, resentment and proven negative continuity.
You will find below an outline to help you exercise your right as a member to evolve your clan in a direction you feel is comfortable and acceptable. Accepting the results is also your responsibility, and your respect to other members views and opinions is not only appreciated but expected and enforced.
Debate Initiation:
Step 1: Read our CoC and Law of the Land section of forums to ensure that what you are about to debate hasn’t already been debated in the past.
Step 2: Consult Council for enlightenment and direction, insuring that all options are available and acceptable for debate or vote, and that all members rights and views will be represented equally and objectively
Step 3: Initiate your debate thread in the -=AGX=- Member Debate forum:
Please use a title describing your debate such as “DEBATE RE: Snipers” and not “I HATE SNIPERS!!!”
Describe what it is you want to debate in a logical, fact driven fashion. Refrain from using member’s names, combative undertones, insults or other non productive emotion based text.
Step 4: Contact a forum Administrator or Council Member for a clan wide email to include as many members as possible.
Step 5: Please allow no less than 7 days for responses from other members. Options, regardless of how many, should be presented in the final voting stage. Your debate, in most cases, will result in a yes or no answer from eligible voting members
(example: vanilla ice cream in our cafeteria //YES/NO) Should your debate include a broad issue, present as many options from the debate responses as possible.
Thread responses:
de·bate (d -b t )
v. de·bat·ed, de·bat·ing, de·bates
v.intr.
1. To consider something; deliberate.
2. To engage in argument by discussing opposing points.
3. To engage in a formal discussion or argument. Synonyms: discuss.
4. Obsolete To fight or quarrel
Please post your debate responses in a fashion conducive to the above definition. If posts fall into the non productive, combative or emotion category, they will be deleted. Present your case based on facts and high level opinion. Use past precedence, proof, examples, web links or other opinion backing references. If you have nothing positive to add, please do not post. If you agree with another member’s post, post what it is you agree with and why.
Poll Initiation:
After the 7 day debate period, inform Council the time period has expired and proceed to initiate the poll by posting the topic in the Polling Station:
Be sure to include all available polling options as directed by Council to insure all members
rights, and/or views are properly addressed and equally voted upon
(example: Yes / No / Abstain / ?*?)
?*? These options will be determined by the desired topic and it is imperative all options be discussed prior to initiation to properly address all members views, opinions, and rights
Please Bear in Mind When Initiating a Debate or Poll:
Debate’s & Poll’s influence the clan and its direction and should be presented properly and objectively to the clan in which it influences.
